I’ve seen the Green Man With his face of leaves Carved on the church wall High in the eaves As I passed by him Heard him call my name Can this be real? Or am I insane? Ooh, now I can see I am the sacrifice Ooh, now I believe The Green Man shall rise Into the wildwood I walk entranced Deep in the shadows I hear them chant Compelled by his power To my forest tomb I let out a mad laugh I know I am doomed Ooh, now I can see I am the sacrifice Ooh, now I believe The Green Man shall rise Ooh, under the trees I am the sacrifice Ooh, blood on the leaves The Green Man shall rise I stand in the circle Watching as he takes form As life drains from my body I see the Green Man reborn Ooh, now I can see I am the sacrifice Ooh, now I believe The Green Man shall rise Ooh, under the trees I am the sacrifice Ooh, blood on the leaves The Green Man shall rise Green Man rising...

Spent all winter waiting For the sun to arise Longing for isolation In my perch on high Dreaming of the mountains The whispering pines Soon as the summer comes I will take back what’s mine Now I’m back on the track Freak on a peak Just me and my pack Freak on a peak Now I’m homeward bound Freak on a peak No use down on the ground Freak on a peak Tried to live the city life Didn’t do me no good Tried to be civilised But I never could Never felt satisfaction Never felt at home Til I went to the woods And I lived alone Now I’m back on the track Freak on a peak Just me and my pack Freak on a peak Now I’m homeward bound Freak on a peak No use down on the ground Freak on a peak No sense of self No sense of time Think I finally found Some peace of mind Free as a bird Like an orphan child Couldn’t help but answer The call of the wild Up here in my tower I got my own space Feel like I dropped out Of that human race No hope for mankind No, they’ll never learn I’m going to sit back And watch the world burn No sense of self No sense of time Think I finally found Some peace of mind Free as a bird Like an orphan child Couldn’t help but answer The call of the wild

about

'Green Lung boast former members of Oak and Tomb King, among others, and Green Man Rising, their first digital single, is the means by which they make their entry into London’s crowded underground sphere. Aside from the apparent nod to Type O Negative in the title – and plenty of more-than-apparent nods in guitarist Scott Masson’s riffing – “Green Man Rising” and “Freak on a Peak” bask in post-Church of Misery blown-out cymbals from drummer Matt Wiseman, while also engaging a sense of space via rich low end from bassist Andrew Cave and the echoing vocals of Tom Templar. Cool vibe; makes it easy to look forward to more from them' The Obelisk
